Some pictures from the excursion we made today (Sept 22, 2017) on mount Gran Sasso (btw, Gran = big, Sasso = rock) with our first and second-year students from MathMods and InterMaths (there were around 80 of us!).
We took an "EASY" path from Campo Imperatore up to Rifugio Duca Degli Abruzzi - surprisingly enough, there was already some snow up there (btw, it's at about 2,000 m asl). After that, we had an arrosticini barbecue at Fonte Vetica. Later in the afternoon we stopped by in the medieval village of Santo Stefano di Sessanio, where we made our way through its narrow cobbled streets.
We hope everybody enjoyed the trip as much as we did! See you on the next trip.

Before starting their second semester in Hamburg University, our first-years have thrown an amazing international dinner-party in the courtyard of our students' flats. We really enjoyed every single traditional dish from their home country, as you can clearly see from the photos below.
Once again, we wish you all the best for your second semester!
Ci vediamo presto a L'Aquila!
Take a look at the photos from the day-trip we had on Saturday 18, 2017, as a way to say goodbye to our MathMods-year1, who are going to leave Italy in a few days to start their Semester-2 in Hamburg.
We visited two towns lying in an area on the border between Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany, at around 3 hours' drive from L'Aquila, both dating back to the Etruscan times:
- Civita di Bagnoregio [Viterbo, Lazio], aka the dying/disappearing town
- Montepulciano [Siena, Tuscany], which is possibly more world-famous for its wine than for its history :)
Thank you, everyone, for joining us on the trip and we hope to see you soon in Italy!
