On March 8th, around 20 cm of snow covered the streets of Barcelona. This is a rare phenomenon that occurs every 25 years or so. The picture shows an unusual view of the campus. The university was closed during 24 hours.
The students in Barcelona will deliver an oral report on the progress of their Master Theses, on May 26th and 28th. Their talks will be followed by invited talks delivered by Professors Tim Myers from the Centre de Recerca Matemàtica (Barcelona) and Rahul Roy from the Indian Statistical Institute (Delhi). These will be the only joint sessions of the second semester, since the students are now working individually in their projects.
Provisional titles of the projects:
Daniel Gieschen: "Clinical Decision Support for Dementia"
Chainarong Kesamoon: "Mathematical Models in Evolution of Development"
Senshan Ji: "Effective Object Localization Through Optimized Codebooks"
Bolor Jargalsaikhan: "The measure of risk aversion"
